This protein-rich tropical bean pod with its unusual frilled edges, is not grown commercially on a large scale. Indeed, this climbing perennial is often cultivated in backyards and gardens where they have a growing season of two to three months. Added at the end of a stir fry it is eaten almost raw, thus adding crunch and freshness.
