This bright yellow rhizome with its earthy peppery flavour, is a member of the ginger family. Slightly smaller than fresh ginger it is sometimes available fresh but mostly in dried powder form. A vital ingredient of curry powder, it is used in Thai, Malaysian, Indian and Indonesian cooking. Also known as tumeric or kunyit.
